H.E. Asad Abdirisak Mohamed is a distinguished Somali statesman, politician, and parliamentarian with a robust and diverse career that spans public service, law enforcement, and the private sector. From 1986 to 1990 Minister Asad’s academic foundation was laid at Somali National University, where he pursued Agriculture Education at Lafole College of Education. Driven by a commitment to community health and nutrition, he furthered his studies and obtained a Master's Degree in Nutrition. During this period, from 1994 to 1999, he served as a certified nutrition counselor at the San Diego State University Foundation and the American Red Cross WIC program, providing vital support to families in need.
Between 2000 and 2020, H.E. Mr. Asad dedicated two decades of his career to law enforcement as an officer with the San Diego Police Department, having graduated from the Mira Mesa Police Academy. His commitment to principle and service led him to contribute to the safety and security of his community. Following his extensive experience in the U.S., in June 2020, he returned to Somalia, where he served as a police mentor in the federal member states until 2021, helping to strengthen local law enforcement capacities.
In 2022, H.E. Mr. Asad was elected as a member of the Somalia Federal Parliament, further solidifying his role as a leader within the country. Currently, he serves as the State Minister at the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, where he leverages his expertise and commitment to advance the agricultural and irrigation sectors in Somalia. Through his multifaceted career, H.E. Mr. Asad has consistently worked to improve the livelihoods of his fellow citizens at both local and federal levels, embodying the principles of service, leadership, and dedication to national development.
