Luca Ruini, as HSE&E Vice President at Barilla Group, leads sustainable supply chain development, focusing on health, safety, environment, and energy. He has overseen projects like sustainable durum wheat agriculture, carbon credits, brand carbon neutrality, and retailer collaborations.


From July 2020 to May 2023, he chaired the Italian National Packaging Consortium (CONAI), focusing on recycling and reuse in the EU. At the Barilla Center for Food & Nutrition (2019-2021), he guided publications on water economy, climate change, sustainable agriculture, and food waste.


Since 2001, Ruini has been an industrial expert at the EU IPPC Food & Drink Technical Working Group, and since 2019, Board President of FoodFarm4.0. He is an expert on EU-funded projects and a startup mentor. Ruini has authored over 15 scientific articles on sustainable diets, LCA, carbon neutrality, water footprint, sustainable agriculture, and occupational safety.
