Sorin Cheval is a climate scientist with a background in Physical Geography and Natural Hazards. He is a senior researcher at the National Meteorological Administration of Romania, and a professor (doctoral advisor) at Babeș-Bolyai University Cluj-Napoca and University of Bucharest, Romania, as well as an invited professor at the European School for Management and Technology in Berlin, Germany. His research focuses on exploring the interaction between the built environment and climate variability to support and strengthen societal resilience in metropolitan areas. His work examines the impact of climate variability and change on cities, utilizing satellite remote sensing and diverse data sources to monitor urban climates, evaluate urban heat island effects, and assess climate hazards. He has extensive experience leading international research projects and has published numerous findings in prestigious international journals. Dr. Sorin Cheval serves as an associate editor for Urban Climate Journal, and is a Lead Author for the IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Cities, to be included in the seventh assessment cycle.
