Global Director for Strategic Partnerships, Engagement & Communication, Alliance of Bioversity International & CIAT
Stephanie Speck is a global leader in strategic partnerships, communications, and development, with over 20 years of experience delivering impact across more than 25 countries. A self-described “stubborn optimist,” she has led complex initiatives spanning governance, humanitarian response, and institutional reform in fragile and post-conflict contexts.
She began her career designing health and education communication programs for vulnerable communities, before joining Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and AusAID, where she led major humanitarian and public diplomacy efforts. Her early work following the 2004–2005 Indian Ocean Tsunami earned her Australia’s Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal, and she was later named a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International.
Stephanie has advised governments and Heads of State across regions including Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq, and Ukraine, co-designing large-scale national reform programs and mobilizing over USD 1.3 billion in investment. She has also established seven development and climate-focused funds.
Most recently, she led a US$2.8 billion investment portfolio at the Green Climate Fund, advancing climate action in fragile settings.
